Cooperative Education
and Training Program
The cooperative Education and Training Program,
or "Co-Op," is expanding its program. The program originally
began in 1971 at Marianas High School. This year, the two newest
high
schools, Kagman High School and Southern high School, will be
offering Co-Op. KHS will start in January 2003 and SHS will start
in August 2003. The program is designed to help prepare students
for the job market. The course consists of Cooperative Education
(on campus) and Cooperative Training (off campus). In the Cooperative
Education class, students participate in completing resumes, applications,
interviews, personal development and other projects. In Cooperative
Training, students gain work experience by participating as a "trainee"
at an off-campus business organization. Students are required
to train a minimum of 10 hours per week.
The prerequisites for students include: 12th grade or senior status,
a GPA of 2.0 or above, good attendance, and no disciplinary problems.
Students with two or more years of a vocational education class
are given first priority.
If you are a student who wants to participate in the Cooperative
Program, then please see your friendly school counselor for enrollment.
